While this philodendron was named after a botanist name Dr. Simon Mayo, it’s incidentally named after the Japanese word for “lost” or “bewildered.” And at the beginning of its life, it’s like the plant reflects this with its soft, broad, undefined lobes and directionless growth. However, with less than help than other houseplants of its category, the plant vigorously grows itself some harder, well-defined fangs.
How to Care For Philodendron Mayoi?
Like other philodendrons, the mayoi prefers more acidic soil, aroid mix soil, and a regular watering schedule that gives its roots time to dry out. On the other hand, this plant is a popular plant particularly for its ability to grow in a wide variety of environments. The only thing to remember is that, despite looking basal, it’s epiphytic and will climb upward if you let it.
