A personal favorite, the lemon sherbert coleus is actually a 21st century (2011) discovery from Australia, in the mint family Lamiaceae. Although some coleus are toxic (due to an irritant called diterpene coleonol), some are edible (similar to oregano) or medicinal, used to treat high blood pressure and related conditions (due to a vessel-dilator, forskolin). Not much study has been done for Coleus bellus, but it is considered edible, used in jams and lemonade; its fuzzy leaves also add a cozy air to rainy days and snowy nights.
