Despite being called a fern, this one’s actually a tropical inedible asparagus in disguise. Its aesthetic and adaptability made it extremely popular in terrariums and homes and even bouquets (alluding to asparagus’ aphrodisiac past in Ancient Rome). While it looks delicate, there’s a reason it’s a symbol of vitality in some cultures, earning its name (asparagus meaning “shoot” and plumosa meaning feather)
How to Care for Fern Plumosa?
As long as you treat it with well-draining peat-based soil, and give it enough water and light, it will give you bursts of feathers each season for years to come. That being said, watch out for yellow (lack of light or water) or blanched (too much light) foliage.
