Despite being named after the Colombian region “Choco” (rather than the common luxury, chocolate), the philodendron el choco red has all the romanticism of chocolate-covered berries, with a dark red blush under its brownish-green, smooth, velvet leaves. But the best of this philodendron comes from growing it, with its compact set of broad leaves that grow with a robust spark that’s not always there with other velvet leaf philodendrons.

How to Grow and Care for Philodendron El Choco Red?
Much like other climbing philodendrons, this plant is an epiphyte, enjoying something strong from which to plant its roots and climb. While it does enjoy the warm, tropical environments from which it came, it can easily thrive in a wide variety of environments and conditions, and many consider the el choco much hardier than similar plants of its family.
