Calathea network, or Calathea (meaning “basket”) musaica (meaning “mosaic”), is named after art made by people. And indeed, the pencil thin lines across the entire surface of this beautiful calathea have (as some would say) the tight, intricate aesthetic of a desperate student’s attempt to stay afloat (by doodling), or some Picasso-esque geometric work. However, like with other calatheas, these lines are actually the plant’s attempt to blend into its environment, vulnerable to many environmental factors.
