With its peculiar leaves, it was named after royalty (Rex being Latin for “king”) despite starting in the Western world as a stowaway amongst orchids from India to Europe. The toxicity and medicinal uses of this plant is disputed (with antimicrobial properties and toxic calcium oxalates), though usually the toxins are concentrated in the roots.
How to Care for Begonia Rex Flamingo Soul?
Their broad leaves are the evolutionary advantage begonias have chosen, and these leaves are thought to be extremely adaptable. Though a bit more dramatic than other varieties (over humidity) they have the flare to go along with it, and spread quickly in warm consistent conditions.
